Gotham Ready Mix pushes the envelope on the tightest of urban sites

The August issue of Concrete Products leads off with a visit to the most ambitious ready mixed plant that New York City contractors and practitioners have seen built from the ground up in decades. Gotham Ready Mix is a case study in urban plant design and space optimization. Located on a 1.25-acre site the producer’s twin alley, transit mixed plant is equipped to serve its Brooklyn home base, plus the Big Apple’s four other boroughs: Bronx, Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island. 

Gotham RM launched in 2019 through the buyout of Bronx operator NYC Concrete, and proceeded with development of the Brooklyn site in 2020-21. The latter facility serves accounts of all sizes, offering conventional to high performance concretes, including mixes up to 14,000 psi design strength. To augment up to 30 12-yd. McNeilus Standard mixers based at Brooklyn, the producer has recently added a Zim-Mixer volumetric and a McNeilus Standard with 60-ft. Theam TLD truck-mounted conveyor.
